Yesterday I quoted from Scougal in regard to how the beauty we see here on earth should turn our attention to the One who gave us beauty. He went on to speak of the nearness of God and the goodness of God. He said,
“Nor can we pretend the remoteness of the object, as if God were at too great a distance for our converse or our love. ‘He is not far from every one of us; for in Him we live, and move, and have our being:’ we cannot open our eyes, but we must behold some footsteps of his glory; and we cannot turn them toward him, but we shall be sure to find his intent upon us, waiting as it were to catch a look, ready to entertain the most intimate fellowship and communion with us.”
Have you stopped to consider the nearness of God? Have you stopped to consider the way God moves within your life every day? You won’t have to look long or hard to find the “footsteps of His glory!”

The heavens declare His glory! One of my favorite phrases is… “God did that!” Every time I see a sunset… cloud formation… hear a bird sing… or enjoy sitting in rocking chairs with friends I think to myself, “God is involved in these things.”
Thanks for the reminder of God’s nearness. I wonder what we’d see if our eyes were opened and we could really see?
