Yesterday I shared a glimpse into my family’s life and I referred to my youngest child, Kimberly Joy, aka KJ, as Doughnut. From time to time I am asked why I call her D’nut so I thought I would give you another glimpse into the zoo we call home.
KJ is 7 years old and several years ago she and I were driving home one evening and she said, “Daddy, is shut-up a bad word?” I said, “Yes baby, we don’t say shut-up.” After a little while she said, “Daddy, is stupid a bad word?” I said, “Yes baby, we don’t say stupid.” We were almost home and she said, “Daddy, is doughnut a bad word?” I laughed and said, “No baby, you can say doughnut.”
The next morning I was walking by the steps and heard KJ and Hollie fussing upstairs. KJ yelled, slammed the door, and then stomped down the stairs muttering, “Doughnut, Doughnut, Doughnut.” It was the worst thing she could think to call her sister! From that moment on she has been D’nut!
Pray for us today—Hollie, D’nut, and I are at home while Kim, Hannah, and Hope are on their first mission trip in Peru. Lift them up along with Tim Gold, Jennifer Holcomb, Lee Pritchett, and Dana Merrymon.

I say you start a weekly entry devoted to doughnut. You will have plenty of stories to share, I am sure. Great stories from today and yesterday.
